Effective date: 28 August 2026
Thank you for using Trippo. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Trippo iOS app and this website collect, how that information is used, and the choices you have. Trippo does not require an account, and we do not ask you for your name, email address or phone number to use the app.
If you grant location permission, Trippo uses your device's location while you are using the app to show you the stops nearest to you, to sort your favourites by proximity, and to centre the map. Your location is used to find nearby stops and is not stored on our servers or linked to you. You can refuse or revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings; the rest of the app continues to work, and you can search for stops by address or stop number instead.
Favourite stops, their names, your saved routes and your app settings are stored on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, in your own iCloud account. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
When you view a stop, the app asks our backend for real-time departures for that stop number. These requests are made to provide the times you asked for and are not used to build a profile of you.
We collect information about how the app is used — which features are opened and how often, the type of device and its operating system version, app version, and crash and performance reports. This tells us what to fix and what to improve.
If you buy a Trippo subscription or other in-app purchase, the payment is handled by Apple. We never receive or store your payment card details. We receive the status of your purchase — whether it is active, renewing, expired or refunded — together with an anonymous identifier, so that the app can unlock the features you paid for and restore them on your other devices.
We use the information we collect to:
We use a small number of third-party services to run Trippo. They only receive the information they need to do their job, and they are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:
Real-time transport data is provided by the National Transport Authority and its operators. Requesting departures for a stop does not send them anything that identifies you.
Trippo does not show third-party adverts. If we ask for permission to track under Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, you may decline, and declining does not limit any feature of the app.
We do not sell your information, and we do not trade it or otherwise transfer it to third parties for their own use. We share information only with the service providers listed above, or where we are required to do so by law, or where it is necessary to protect our rights, safety or property.
We keep information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as the law requires. Analytics and diagnostic data are retained by our service providers according to their own retention schedules, typically no longer than 14 months. Data held on your device stays there until you delete the app.
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Trippo is operated from Ireland, and if you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority — in Ireland, the Data Protection Commission. Because we do not hold accounts, we may not be able to identify data as yours; deleting the app removes the data held on your device, and you can opt out of analytics and tracking through iOS Settings. To make a request, get in touch using the details below.
Trippo is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed, and we will notify you of material changes within the app or on this page.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, or would like to make a request about your data, you can reach us through our support page or on X and Facebook.
